Mommy Play Group

On Monday afternoons I meet with my Mommy Play Group, a bunch of moms that get together with their babies, who don't know any better that they are supposed to play.

This time we met at the park near our house, called Franklin Square. It was fun seeing Jahni and our joke "her boyfriend," my friend Melinda's son, Teddy.

Here's them enjoying a nice fall afternoon . . . .

Priya's Visit

My friend from forever, Priya, came to visit Jahni for the first time from DC. I say first time because she loved loved loved playing with and meeting Jahni. It is no secret that Priya loves baby so hopefully she will be back soon to see her.

My parents were in town for parent's weekend at UPenn. They hung out with Avi while we were in NYC and then watched Jahni while we went for dinner at Distrito with some friends. Afterwards we hit up XIX, a cool bar in downtown Philly and it was a great parents night out.

Sunday was a relaxed day as Priya went back and my parents headed back too after lunch.

A very fun end to Sunil's vacation and start of the dreaded ICU rotation. Help! Sunil will be gone most of the time at work for the next month.

Jahnavi Babbles

Jahni continues to be a great baby, smiling and babbling more day by day. She is more alert and awake during the day, and is able to sleep 5-6 hours at night continuously which is great for us. No words yet, but she is cooing and babbling quite a bit. You can hear what she says on the video below.

Trip To NYC- Fall Vacation

.

Sunil got a week off of work and though most of it was spent in Philly at the annual Rheumatology Conference, we did manage to slip in a few days in NYC. We stayed with Sunil's college friend Dara and her family, our gracious hosts. They also watched Jahni during the day, and these were some long long days (10am-midnight), while we checked out the city together.

Thursday. my birthday, we went to Houston's, now called Hillstone, one of our favorite restaurants and first dates. Then we met up with my college friend, Jessica Chan, at Buttercup Bakeshop (it is no secret I LOVE cupcakes!!) and walked around Central Park. Lastly, we went to dinner at Fig and Olive and checked out the Broadway Classic, Phantom of the Opera.

Friday we went shopping, saw "The Bodies" exhibit, met up with Sunil's friend Andrew, had more cupcakes (this time Magnolia Bakery ones), went to the MOMA museum and Chipotle before heading back.

Baby Jahni is great and we missed her during the day, but it was so so nice to have some private Mommy and Daddy time alone. Wow, it felt so weird and selfish to hang out alone without a stroller, milk, diaper bag and all. . .

Halloween for Babies

My Mommy Play Group met to show off our babies in Halloween costumes at my friend, Melinda's place. Here's us in her Rec room with our adorable babies.

Next I took Jahni to meet Uncle Avi and Daddy at Barnes and Noble where we took some snaps before heading out for dinner at a local restaurant, Raddichio.

Housewarming Party

We finally, three months after moving in, had our housewarming party yesterday. It was a lot of fun and I'm shocked that we were able to fit about 20-25 people in our living room. Thank you all for bringing food or wine. We had a great time!

Daddy was sweet to feed Jahni during our busy party.

Andrew's Visit to Philly

Sunil's best friend Andrew came down from NYC for a day on Friday night. We went out to eat at Positano Coast, a great Italian restaurant in Old City and then again, three weeks in a row, for ice cream at Franklin Fountain.

Andrew and Sunil went to Cafe Ole in the morning and then we dropped him at the bus station. Here is Jahni and 'Uncle Andrew.'

Off to my Second Photo Shoot!

She's only 10 weeks old and she is off to her second photo shoot. This time it's at the famed baby store 'Janie and Jack'. Last week they had a promotion where if you spent $75 you could get a free photo session with a local photographer and an 8 X 10 photo.

Jahni and I went in a cute outfit gifted to her by Grandpa Madhu.

This is a before pic. Unfortunately, we have to wait a few more weeks for the real shots.

My little angel

Jahni is the most angelic when she is peacefully asleep. . . Here is apic of me holding her and then of her asleep on the bed which has become our morning ritual. Once Sunil goes to sleep, I bring her to the bed to sleep next to me.

Farewell

In a sudden twist of fate, one of my best friends in Philly left the city to find happiness elsewhere. She cameover Monday night to say goodbye to us. Sadly, I say farewell to my friend with a heavy heart . . . . but with congratulations to her happiness for the future.

Teddy and Jahni

My friend Melinda, who had her baby 9 days before me, had a "crib party" this afternoon, so we took the fam to her amazing place- a lovely apt off of my favorite "Rittenhouse Square." She had mini sandwiches, cupcakes (my absolute fav!), cookies, salad, pasta salad, cheeses and veggies, and more.

Here is Jahni and her son, Teddy in the play pen together. The second pic is a redux of the "pregnant ladies," a picture we took at Melinda's baby shower of the 4 pregnant ones- her, me, her friend Ali and her sister-in-law Mindy. Three of us had our babies and Mindy is due in November.

Jahni the Terror

The past couple days, our generally angelic baby has been having terror spells. From 11-1am she has been screaming non-stop unless we give her a pacifer (something we have tried so far to avoid) or put her in a vibrating chair and talk to her. This is of course after we try to feed her, burp her and change her. We called the on-call nurse at our doc's office who said this is most likely a bout of cholic. We (well I should say "I" since Sunil is usully asleep by 11pm and is the deepest sleeper and would never hear Jahni), are hoping this phase will pass soon.

Here is how we keep the pacifer in her mouth- you have to get creative!! If it falls out though, beware . . .

Dara's Visit to Philly

Sunil friend from college, Dara, came to visit us from NYC this weekend. Ever since she and her mom came to Philly to graciously take us out to dinner post-wedding earlier this year, I have been concinced to show Dara a good time in the city. She was so surprised last visit that Philly wasn't the downtrodden and crime-ridden city that it sometimes has the reputation of being. At the time we lived in Center City and now we are in Old City (the historic area and also the place people go to eat out and go to bars).

Friday night we were supposed to have a date night for me and Sunil with Dara who generously offered to babysit. Sunil came home so late that Dara and I ended up going out ourselves. We ate at POsitano Coast - a lovely Italian restaurant nearby. The food was sooo good- Dara is vegetarian as well so we split Eggplant Napoleon, sphaghetti and Potato Croquettes. YUM! I recommend this restaurant to anyone in town.

Saturday we went to Reading Terminal again and then hit up Chestnut Hill, a very cute, upscale suburb (I think it is still part of the Philly zip code, though it is more of a suburb). Then we came back to Center City, walked around the Fall Festival and ate a light dinner at Tria, an awesome wine bar where we were able to sit outside.

It was fun having her and I hope she come back more often now that I believe she sees Philly in a different light. . .

Sleeping Time

Daddy goes to sleep before Jahni, our little night owl, so here she is chilling with her dad.

The other pic is her with my oldest and dearest bear - named "Beary"- wasn't I a creative youngster with the name?
