Uncle Sai's Visit to Philly

Sai, Sunil's cousin, and son of Ramesh Uncle and Suju Aunty came to visit Philly this weekend. It was his first time out east. He had previously been scheduled to come at the end of August but had to reschedule. Since we were unaware about the rescheduling we had appointments for the eye doctor and hair cuts made. Sai was such a good sport and tagged along and helped us with Jahni so we could do our errands.

Friday night we ate in Old City and had ice cream at Franklin Fountain, a cute old fashioned ice cream ship with authentic homemade ice cream flavors.

Saturday we ate lunch at Reading (pronounced "Redding") Terminal Market, Philly's equivalent to Boston's famed Quincy Market and dinner with Avi at Vietnam Palace, a resurant in Chinatown.

Anyone who knows Sai knows he is a "pho" lover (the Vietnamese noodle soup). All in all a fun weekend.

Laurie's Housewarming

Laurie moved to a new house in Cinnaminson, NJ with her new husband, Ted. Actually her new name is Laurie Quinn. Congrats to the happy couple. We always do our errands in NJ since it is just over the bridge from Philly so we went to Costco before we headed over to Laurie's. We had a fun time and Laurie made veggie burgers, yay! She also loved the picture collage I made for her and Ted as their housewarming/post-wedding gift. Here is a pic of her opening it and of our friend Teresa rocking Jahni to sleep.

Sunil unfortunately gotten alive by mosquitos that night and hence swore off east coast evening outdoor functions. He was in pain all week!

Our New Bedding

So we got some new bedding for our bedroom and of course we had to have Jahni model it for us.

Bath Time

Now that Jahnavi is almost 2 months old we are feeling more comfortable holding her, feeding her and of course bathing her. She loves the water and sits nicely in her tub as she gets clean. I can't believe how blessed we are by her temperment. She is an amazingly good baby- so well behaved- she does not bother s or make a sound unless she is hungry, she smiles, lies on us, gurgles and overall just makes us so happy.

Everywhere I go I get compliments now- maybe its because sheis a baby but I'd like to think it is because sheis exceptionally cute ;)

Here is also a pic from when we visited daddy for lunch (she sat in her car seat).

Photo Studio Session

We went to get photos taken of Jahnavi with Grandpa Madhu (Sunil's Dad) and Grandma Geetha (my mom). She looks so adorable and I'm glad we went a few weeks ago because as babies get bigger and rolly polly they lose their features for a little while.

Seeing the Liberty Bell at Night

Great Aunt Suju and Great Uncle Ramesh saw the liberty bell at night. It was their first trip to Philly so it was a nice treat to walk around thtecity with them. This pic was taken after a delicious dinner at La Scala, courtesy of "The Greats."

Afterwards we went home where Jahnavi played with her Grandpa Madhu.

Visiting UPenn

So we went to visit Avi's college today to check out his dorm room- It is a small room, but it is sizeable for a college dorm and it has a sink and closet! A lot of dorms just have a dresser, desk and bed. His campus is really nice and because it is an ivy league school it has an old but presitigious feel. The Quad is very green and quaint.

The ony issue was that I was almost not allowed to enter the dorm area because I decided to leave my purse at home and therefore did not have a photo ID on me (required to enter the dorms). In the end Avi was able to persuade security.

My Grandparents Visits

So this was another busy weekend for the new Gupta family- Both Aunt Sujathas and their family and both grandparents came to visit us to see Jahnavi.

It was Labor Day long weekend and Uncle Avi was moving into to UPenn (a Philadelphia University) so we thought it would be a perfect time for a visit.

We ate a lot of good food including El Vez, Naked Chocolate Cafe (a dessert place), Fork (a restaurant) etc. and took lots of pictures!!

Aunt Veena who recently moved to San Francisco is staying until Thursday.
