A Visit to Pack Our Apartment
My mom came this weekend to help us pack up our apartment for our impending move to a bigger two bedroom apartment to make room for GG. We worked hard and ate lots of take out and in between walked by the new apartment and caught a glimpse of the historic Philly sites. It is amazing how much stuff you acquire in a little over one year. Who knew so many boxes full of stuff could fit into a one-bedroom apartment? We're looking forward to more room. . .

Off to Ithaca
My family went to Ithaca to celebrate the graduation of my cousin, Vikram, from Cornell. Vik graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and completed his Pre-Med requirements. We had fun exploring local restaurants and checking out the campus from the eyes of a new alum!!
Unfortunately, Sunil was on call Sunday and was not able to join us and see the beauty of Upstate NY.

Girls Night Out, A Baby Shower and More
So Friday, Sunil and I found ourselves with a short night since he came home late from the hospital, but we decided to enjoy one of our first-in-awhile "Friday Night Dates." We went to Trio, a Thai restaurant in the Art Museum District which we both ended up enjoying. The we came back home to watch one of our Netflix pics "Flash of Genuis." I had recently seen the movie on our trip to CA for our Reception in February, but Sunil loved it. I mean, it is about wind shield wipers, and everybody knows Sunil is crazy about cars. . .
Saturday, I went to my friend Elle's for a dinner party, which though slow on the dinner part, was very fun. Sunil, exhausted from his crazy intense week of ICU stayed in. I was able to catch up with all my girlfriends may of whom I had not seen in months and wear a cute dress that I had bought pre-pregnancy- Yay to still fitting into it! I met Lindsey's friends visiting from Dallas and a new girl of one of our guy friends. . oh how I do love witnessing new romances blossom!
Sunday, was my first baby shower (that I attended, I mean). My friend Melinda invited me to her Club Room (same location as my shower in a couple weeks) for a perfectly sweet shower. It was very well organized with sandwiches/salad/fruit, shower games, present opening and cake. Kudos to the hosts, relatives of Melinda's.

24 Hours in Cali
Sunil and I went on what I termed a "hit and run" trip to California last weekend to celebrate his cousin, Sai's, upanayanam, or thread ceremony.
Highlights included seeing family, eating Pinkberry (apparently an only west coast treat), dinner in Palm Springs to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday, and of course the ceremony itself. We were greeted at the airport by Sunil's uncle, Ramesh and cousin, Priya and we definitely basked in the great sunny weather for awhile before heading to Riverside. We were greeted by a newly designed house- Ramesh Uncle and Suju Aunty revamped their decor with new curtains, paint, furniture and other accessories. When we walked in it definitely made a statement. That night we went to a sushi restaurant, good food, smallish portions, and caught up with everyone.
The ceremony was at the house, was lovely to see friends of family and eat good food. Definitely miss the Cali sunshine. . . After lunch, it was back to the gloom of Philly and the monotony of life. Ah, well, I guess that's why they call it vacation.

"The Visitor"
The title is a reference to a film Sunil and I saw a couple months ago. . . but we actually did have a visitor when my college friend Jessica came to visit for a few days this week. Unfortunately, I had the wonderfully interesting and engaging NJ ICLE classes on Monday and Tuesday night so I could not be much of an evening host.
We dined a little around Philly - Mad Mex, Continental and, a G-Unit fav, Naked Chocolate Cafe and did a lot of walking between University City and Old City, which I guess is good exercise for me and GG.
I was super bummed when our chosen apartment which was too good to be true fell though earlier this week, but always a team player, Jessica went with me today to do some apartment hunting. I was too stressed to wait even a couple more days since our May lease is just about ending . . .

Weekend in DC
Went to DC this weekend to see what was left of the Cherry Blossoms, but alas, there were only petal remnants on the ground and lots of rain to greet us. Sunil still enjoyed it though, as it was his first trip to DC since a childhood visit with his family ages ago. It was great seeing some of our friends.
We squeezed in a couple monuments before heading to Georgetown.
The highlight was definitely excitedly waiting for nearly 2 hours to catch a glimpse of Barack and Michelle Obama exiting Citronelle restaurant in DC where they were having a date night. I caught Barack, Sunil caught Michelle and we both blinked for a second and missed the other. Right after he jumped into his bullet-proof, bomb-proof commander-in-chief limo, a swat team suburban opened its hatch back window and we saw 3 men with machine guns less than a foot from us. Who knew the tinted windowed suburban housing sniper-type guys was parked right in front of us? All this time I thought it was a secret service car strategically placed to block our view.
Thank you to our friends Victor and Gloria for being gracious hosts. . .
